At Westcott you are greeted with an awesome karate class taught by Sensei Meghan. She shows the children great ways to channel energy through fun games and exercise. Karate is a great way to keep your muscles on the move in tip-top shape. During Sensei Meghan’s karate class, the young students learned a great sensory game using call and response. Whenever Sensei Meghan would call a name on the side of the room, the children had to run to that side.
Sensei Meghan giving kids directions to a fun game.
But to make this game interesting, she gave them different names. (Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force). So, if she called one side and you ran to the other that meant you were out! The kids all ran to different sides of the room, racing to get there before the other. After that fun game, the winner was given a choice of what they wanted to do. She found the game to be so fun; she wanted to play it again! Sensei Meghan, and Westcott’s Karate program is great exercise and "it so much fun!" We’re sure you’ll get a kick out of it!
