Thirteen-year-old Daysha Straight was the only student at Cook Elementary to get the maximum score on the Chicago Public Schools selective-enrollment test this year which determines where she’ll attend high school in the fall.

Students Ecstatic Over Chance The Rapper's Visit And $1 Million Gift

Chance surprised students at Westcott Elementary, 409 W. 80th St., Monday with an unexpected announcement. He presented a check of $1 million to CPS for arts education. Chance said he also would give $10,000 directly to Westcott Elementary School, in Auburn Gresham.

Board games, dancing, enrichment workshops just for parents to network, and even students vs. parent competition!  This is a time of continued healing, by just having some plain old fun. Lyric Opera of Chicago to Perform at Simeon High

The 19th annual "Opera in the Neighborhoods" tour will be at Simeon, 8141 S. Vincennes Ave., on Oct. 28 for two performances of "The Brothers Grimm. Third through sixth grades at nearby Auburn Gresham GOLD School, Westcott Elementary, 409 W. 80th St., will walk down the street to attend the performance!
