Organizer: The Center for Community Health and Vitality at the University of Chicago Medicine

Organizer of Community Members Standing Together Against Violence

The Center for Community Health and Vitality (CCHV) is working to create a healthier South Side by addressing all aspects of personal wellness. Built on the research and partnerships developed by the University of Chicago Medicine's Urban Health Initiative, the Center brings together community members and university faculty and staff to improve the social, economic, environmental and psychological factors that influence a community’s health.

CCHV aims to educate South Side residents about available resources, work to fill gaps in health care and social services, use research to improve community health, and develop initiatives that will dissolve barriers to wellbeing. The Center for Community Health and Vitality and its partners recognize that good health is not merely the absence of disease; it also fosters vitality – the capacity to live and develop.
