One of the missions of the North Beverly Civic Association is to provide vital information to our community. Most of us know very little about TIFs in Chicago and even less about TIFs in the 21st Ward.
At this presentation you will learn ALL about how TIFs work in Chicago-and-specifically how they work in the 21st Ward. How much money was taken. What projects got funded. How much money FROM our ward is sitting in TIF accounts. All this and more.
The presenter is Tom Tresser of the TIF Illumination Project (http://tifreports.com/). Tom is a long time educator and activist and self-described Public Defender. The TIF Illumination Project has been all over the city Illuminating how our property taxes are being used and abused. This will be their 44th public meeting since February 2013!
You will also hear a brief summary of the remarks made by three NBCA members at the most recent meeting of the Chicago Police Board pertaining to the rising crime in the North Beverly community and the Auburn-Gresham neighborhood as a whole. NBCA representatives also will be reaching out to the news media including television, internet and print media to discuss crime in our community.
