Shelby Parchman, Director of Programs for Sunshine Enterprises, will be a guest on the Nonprofit “U” radio blog talk show on Monday, July 27, 2015, from 2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Nonprofit "U" is an online forum where nonprofit stakeholders can discuss the latest developments in the sector and increase their capacity to serve their clients and build sustainable communities. When Shelby Parchman started working with Sunshine Enterprises, his charge was to create 200 businesses along the 61st Street Corridor in Chicago’s Woodlawn community. Since that time, he has expanded the vision to include businesses in under-served communities on Chicago’s Southside, Westside and Southwestside. “The best path to sustainable community transformation is entrepreneurship,” Parchman said. “Small businesses create jobs and expand the tax base, which, in turn, can be reinvested in our communities’ infrastructure, schools and future economic development. It’s a win-win proposition for everybody involved.”
