Opportunity Rolls in for Greater West Town Graduate

Adrian graduated from Greater West Town's Shipping & Receiving program in February and less than 2 weeks later was on the job at a leading food products manufacturer.  He's already received two raises and a promotion!  With a great salary he was able to buy a new, high-end car.

In 2014 Adrian was trying to figure out what to do in life.  He was frustrated because he kept hitting dead ends in his attempts to develop a career.  He was familiar with Greater West Town, because he completed his high school diploma at the organization's alternative school, West Town Academy.  He decided to apply to the agency’s Shipping & Receiving Training Program.

Once accepted into the course, Adrian found training to be rigorous.  Instructors with high expectations and firm support challenged him to develop his work ethic.  Instructor William Molina says: "Adrian was great.  He's humble, he listens, and he follows instructions to the letter."  His attitude made him a great learner, and he has carried that straight into the job.

A suburban food products manufacturer hired Adrian very quickly.  He started as a machine operator.  Due to his exceptional work ethic and proven reliability, he was put in charge of his own room, to lead production in a room full of machines and operators.

Most importantly, Adrian is now solidly providing for his two kids.  Given his success so far, Adrian can now dream about getting his own place and becoming a supervisor one day.  Adrian says: "Everything I learned through the program at Greater West Town, I've applied at work."

Greater West Town Project is currently accepting applications for both of its technical skills training programs.  Individuals interested in working full-time in the wood products manufacturing or logistics industries, who are over 18 years old and drug free, may be eligible for free training.

If you have the positive attitude and drive to succeed like Adrian, follow the road he has opened up, and find your new career at Greater West Town.   To apply for the Shipping & Receiving Training Program or the Woodworkers Training Program, call 312-563-9570.  The next classes start in June.
