Mayor Rahm Emanuel Returns to Auburn Gresham

As part of his campaign stops, then Mayoral-candidate Emanuel visited the Auburn Gresham community to inform residents and business owners about his intentions as the city's first Mayor in more than 20 years and efforts to really work with all Chicago communities.
Fast forward to today and you will find that Mayor Emanuel returned to the greater Auburn Gresham community to thank residents and business owners for their support.
In April 2011, Emanuel made a surprise visit to the DuSable Museum's Night of 100 Stars and acknowledged Jeremy Winters and his partner Aaron Harding for approaching him on a CTA L platform to present their Artist Skill Enhancement (A.S.E.) after school contract. (A.S.E. is a musical and theatrical program designed to help students develop their talents in the musical and theatrical industries.)
Both Winters and Harding (Simeon Career Academy students) got word that Emanuel would be greeting passengers on a CTA L platform and decided to go meet him. And the rest as they say is history.
Emanuel also presented Winters with DuSable's “Rising Star Award”- and told the audience that he would joining his task force as a student advisor.
In May 2011, Mayor Emanuel returned to the Greater Auburn-Gresham Development Corporation (GADC) and Fuller's Barbershop. At each business, the Mayor thank everyone again for their welcome and asked for their support of him as Mayor of Chicago.
