A group of teachers, parents, Waldorf alums and other community members is currently forming to create a Waldorf-inspired K-12 charter school on Chicago's southside with the goal of being:
- Union-friendly
- Cooperatively-run
- Site in low-income neighborhood with minimum 50% local enrollment
- Eco-conscious space and curriculum
- Diverse enrollment across income, race, ethnic and religious lines
Possible sites include the former St. Laurence parish at 72nd & Dorchester or the former ICE 62nd & Western cinema building. Other sites will be considered.
Interested folks are encouraged to join the Google Group to receive meeting announcements, policy discussions, field trips etc. http://groups.google.com/group/southside-chicago-waldorf-charter-school and the Facebook group http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=group_136175023111920.
