CDEL's Community Clinics

The following is a transcript of the flyer provided by The Center for Disability and Elder Law (CDEL) with certain edits made for easier reading:

About Us:

The Center for Disability and Elder Law (CDEL) was founded in 1984 by the Chicago Bar Association to provide FREE legal services to low-income seniors and/or persons with disabilities who live in Cook County.

CDEL's focuses its legal services on issues which have a significant impact on the people we serve-such as:

  • Housing
  •  Financial Matters – including collections and consumer fraud
  •  End of Life Planning – including Powers of Attorney, Living Will Declarations, Transfer on Death Instruments, and simple wills
  • Financial Exploitation & Abuse

Community Clinics:

CDEL hosts several community clinics throughout Cook County so that seniors may access our services more conveniently and receive responses to requests for assistance more quickly. CDEL provides four (4) clinics to senior centers in suburban Cook County and four (4) clincs in Chicago.

Additionally, we host our monthly Proud to Thrive Clinic at the Center on Addison, a LGBT-affirming location, for LGBT elders and persons with disabilities.

Finally, we host monthly Veteran clinics at Jesse Brown VA and Hines VA.

During the on-going pandemic, most of our clinics went virtual and were conducted via the telephone. We are excited to return to our in-person community clinics in 2022!
