Hundreds of Young Ballet Dancers Audition for 
Scholarship Competition

Hundreds of young ballet dancers - ages 9 to 19 - from all over the Chicago region will be auditioning for the Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP). The students will attend workshops, dance classes, and audition to make the Finals Week in New York City, April 2019, where scholarships to top schools and companies will be awarded.

For the past 20 years YAGP has awarded more than $250,000 annually in scholarships to send up-and-coming dancers to prestigious schools and companies around the globe. YAGP Alumni have gone on to join American Ballet Theatre, Paris Opera Ballet, Dutch National Ballet, New York City Ballet, among others! This year's international semi-finals held auditions in Brazil, Korea, Australia, Japan, Italy, France and Spain. National semi-finals include 22 cities across North America including Los Angeles, Toronto, Denver, Philadelphia, Salt Lake City, Tampa, Chicago, Dallas, Boston and Atlanta. Youth America Grand Prix is the largest global network of dance. Today, more than 10,000 young dancers – ages 9 to 19 – audition annually. 450 Youth America Grand Prix alumni are now dancing with 80 professional companies around the world. 100 of these alumni are soloists and principal dancers. YAGP fulfills its mission of dance education through scholarship auditions, master classes, alumni services, performances, educational and outreach activities.

2019 is YAGP's 20th Anniversary season! Over the past 20 years the organization has provided opportunities to 80,000 dancers worldwide and have gifted talented young dancers more than $3.5 million in scholarships to leading dance schools and companies around the world.
