A Youth Revolution in Auburn Gresham

Auburn Gresham is surely one of Chicago’s greatest “Best-Kept Secrets.” A community filled with beautiful bungalows, astounding parks, historical attractions and quality schools. One of our schools, nationally known for its stellar sports team and graduates such as Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls and State Representative Mary E. Flowers of the 31st district are proud Simeon High School alumni. These alumni along with a host of others have set the standards of quality education and programming in Auburn Gresham which exhibtis the true essence of GOLD standards.

Digging Deeper in Auburn Gresham: A first-person perspective

During this spring semester the Chicago Teacher Education Pipeline (CTEP) staff and our community partners have launched a pilot to enhance our urban redesigned courses and the complementary clinical visits.   In Auburn Gresham, Sheenita Robinson of Greater Auburn Gresham Community Development Corporation (GAGDC) and I set out to develop a more engaging and mutually beneficial clinical visit planning process.  Read the story as Sheenita shares her thoughts with me about why it is important to collaborate with ISU faculty for their upcoming clinical visits.

Community Welcomes New Faces

The community of Auburn Gresham welcomes the new faces of Illinois State University students as they begin their summer intership of working in the education system as well as working with businesses in the area.
