The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s will take place on Sunday, October 28 at Montrose Harbor in Chicago. More than 6,000 people from the Chicagoland area are expected at this year’s event to raise awareness and funds to fight Alzheimer’s disease. The Chicago Walk is the 5th leading Walk to End Alzheimer's in the United States.
Walk participants will complete a 5K Walk and will learn about Alzheimer's disease, advocacy opportunities, clinical studies enrollment and support programs and services from theAlzheimer’s Association. Walk participants will also honor those affected by Alzheimer's disease with the poignant Promise Garden ceremony.
In Illinois alone, there are more than 220,000 people living with the disease and 590,000 caregivers. In the United States, more than 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease, the sixth-leading cause of death and the only disease among the top 10 causes that cannot be cured, prevented or even slowed. Additionally, more than 16 million family and friends provide care to people withAlzheimer’s and other dementias.
